Highlights:
This in an initiative which is part of the first call for Smartcities projects attached to the Ministry of Digital Agenda in Spain, related to the National Smartcities Plan summoned by the public business entity Red.es and co financed by ERDF.
Alcala la Real is located in the “Comarca de la Sierra Sur” in the province of Jaén (Spain). This area has had historical strategic importance , being a reference settlement during the Muslim age, the reconquest and the medieval period.
The tourism sector development, together with the use of new technologies, efficient use of resources and enviroment care, make Alcala la Real think about a reconfiguration of the city adapted to the new times, promoting an integral management to become a smart destiny. There are four major front lines in this project: High connectivity, energetic efficiency development, improve transportation services and public safety.
WI FI NETWORK: HIGH CONNECTIVITY
Alcala la Real has been provided with a huge infraestructure in terms of connectivity within the deployment and new start-up for the WI FI network across all the “La Mota-Las Cruces” touristic route which includes 25 FTTH access points, point to point and pont to multipoint links.
ENERGETIC EFFICIENCY: PUBLIC LIGHTING SMART MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
New adjustable electronic ballast and sensor-actuator have been implemented in 1.043 lights which, thanks to the Wireless network deployed, allows the remote monitoring and acting from a control centre for each one of these lightpoints. Thanks also to the management software it is posible to program the behaviour of the public lightning system based on events which can be brought from another type of system or depending on the city event Schedule. This solution means 10% electricity consumption savings for the ballasts and 32,66% for the smat city lightning system.
IMPROVEMENT OF THE TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM AND PUBLIC SAFETY: VIDEO SURVEILLANCE
This solution is based on the implementation of a complete and powerful traffic control system in touristic and comercial areas. There is a 13 IP high resolution cameras system whitin 11 infrared focuses, connected to a recording and processing recording center located in the municipal data processing center (DPC). System’s high compatibility allows the integration with all types of IP cameras and source types on the market.
SMART TOURISM: DIGITAL EXPERIENCE FOR TOURISTS
We have developed a content manager and a documental manager where all the information of different sources has been stored, both historical and informative at a cultural, comercial and touristic level. We created a new touristic website for Alcala la Real and a Smartphone app as well (Android / iOS). We also placed 12 smart sign plaques whit programmable QR codes on them. All this allows the link between the content manager and the website, improving the user experience and easing real time management.
The tourist experience enhace in three stages: before the trip –through the website-, during the visit –with the smart signs and APP- and after the trip offering to the tourists the possibility of writing a review, winning in interactivity thanks to the Social Networks.
